The red and white career of Ruby Sargent-Wilson has come to an end, after her contract was not renewed for next season.

Sargent-Wilson was the first player ever signed onto the Sydney Swans AFLW list, having developed her craft in the QBE Sydney Swans Academy. She went on to play 21 games across her four seasons at the top level.

The 22-year-old is a proud New South Wales athlete, having grown up in the Illawarra region. In 2023, Sargent-Wilson was a part of Sydney’s historic first ever AFLW victory against GWS at North Sydney Oval.

Sydney Swans Executive General Manger – AFLW Football, Amanda Turner, said Sargent-Wilson will always have a special place in the Swans family.

“Ruby was the first signing we made when we were forming our original list, so she’s played a large part in building the squad into what it is today,” Turner said.

“Having come through the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, Ruby showed tremendous drive and passion to want to play at the top level, and she managed to live out that dream.

“On behalf of the club, I wish Ruby all the very best for the future.”
