The Sydney Swans have appointed Trent Goodrem as Head Coach of the QBE Sydney Swans Male Academy.
Goodrem joins the club following three years with the GWS Giants AFLW program, where he spent the last two seasons as their midfield coach.
Born in Sydney, Goodrem moved to Adelaide in 2007 to play for Central Districts in the SANFL. He played 240 games for the Bulldogs over 14 seasons, winning three premierships, and captaining the side for five years.
Goodrem takes the reigns from Colin O’Riordan, who has joined the AFLW program as senior coach.
Head of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, Wayne Campbell said Goodrem would be a valuable addition to the program.
“We’re thrilled to have Trent join the Academy and believe he will be a great fit to lead our top age male program,” Campbell said.
“He brings a wide range of football experience from his time both playing and coaching, as well as a strong passion for teaching and leading others.
“We look forward to welcoming Trent, his wife Carly and children Nate and Emmy to the club and the Academy program in the coming weeks.”
Goodrem said he is excited about the opportunity.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Sydney Swans Academy. Sydney is a proud club with a long-standing commitment to developing talent and I’m eager to help strengthen the football pathways throughout New South Wales,” Goodrem said.
“Really excited to get started in the coming weeks.”
Goodrem will begin with the QBE Sydney Swans Academy officially on Monday, February 16.
