Sydney Swans midfielder Angus Sheldrick addressed the media on Tuesday, ahead of Sydney's trip to Melbourne to take on Hawthorn at the MCG on Thursday night.

On Errol Gulden

"I think first and foremost, that's what you've got to do when any player gets injured, get around them and make sure they're doing okay. But yeah, obviously, we know how important he is and we saw last year that we did miss him, but we've got to move on and look forward to this week. I think it's just whoever the next player that comes in does their absolute best, and we all fill the role that he leaves and I think that's all you can do, all chip in and do our part."

On the impact of Errol's injury on the team

"I still feel like the morale at the club, when we found out yesterday, was, you know, we're still in high spirits and we won our first two games pretty convincingly. So, we have to take confidence from that as well."

On having a number of players who can play in the midfield

"That's probably a big positive takeaway. We've been rolling a fair few boys through the midfield, so, you know, there's more opportunity for players to come in and play through there, and a lot of players can."

On whether he feels at home in the midfield

"Hopefully, I still think, you know, I've still got to earn my stripes every week. It's a very, you know, talented and experienced midfield that I've been lucky enough to learn off. But at the same time, you know, it means that there's boys that have done really well for probably 10 years in there. So I'm still learning and finding my way. But yeah, I feel like I've made big steps in the right direction. It's definitely where I want to be playing and probably where I have been playing the last couple of weeks. And I feel it will probably provide more opportunity for everyone to play through there with Errol missing."

On the team's tall forwards

"I feel like Joel's always been a great player in his own right and he probably gets to reap the rewards of not having to take the number one key back every week. So, yeah, that's something that can happen. Charlie's going to have his go as well, he's an amazing player. But, you know, Joel and Logan are equally as important to us and probably get to, you know, have a few more looks at it when they don't have a key back on them."

On the challenge of the Hawks

"They're an amazing team with, you know, amazing weapons. So we'll go into it in the next couple of hours in meetings, I'm sure, of what our plan is, but, yeah, it's not going to be easy. I feel like most teams are trying to play a very similar way. Everyone's trying to go fast and play through the corridor and they're trying to do exactly that and so are we. So, you know, I think we know what we're coming up against and so do they, I think."
