Perspective for Papley with injury setback

Sydney Swans small forward Tom Papley is set to be sidelined for approximately six weeks following a calf injury sustained in the clash with Geelong. 

Paps spoke about his setback on the club's More than Footy podcast yesterday but said recent events put it into perspective for him.

“I was a bit flat on Monday but watching things on social media about Neale Daniher put life in perspective a little bit,” Papley said.

“I was just listening to some things he used to say and a few quotes about how he's talked about not sulking and getting on with life.

“I was pretty quick to move on after yesterday and come in today with a smile on my face and get to work again and see how we can get better as a team, myself as a player and also help develop young players.”

Warner earns Mark of the Year award

Chad Warner has been nominated for this week’s nomination for the AFL's Mark of the Year. Warner took a spectacular hanger late in the third quarter.

AFLW Captaincy Announced

The 2026 AFLW leadership group was this week announced with Lucy McEvoy to lead the Sydney Swans AFLW team as sole captain for the first time in 2026, with Sofia Hurley and Cynthia Hamilton named co-vice captains.

McEvoy has shared the captaincy with Chloe Molloy since 2023, where the pair led the club to its first AFLW win and finals series. McEvoy will be supported by Hurley and Hamilton who have been elevated to vice-captains for the first time in their careers.
