SWANS AIMING TO SECURE FINALS FOOTBALL

This Sunday, the AFLW Sydney Swans can secure their second-ever finals appearance with a win over the 12th-placed West Coast.

The Swans are currently sitting in 7th on the AFLW ladder, and last played finals football in 2023 when they made the semi-final after defeating Gold Coast in the Elimination Final.

A win by any scoreline would be enough for the red and white to secure their spot with one round to spare.

“It’s huge. It is a big game, and we're not shying away from that fact,” Sydney Swans AFLW senior coach Colin O'Riordan said.

“We will stick to process and what we want to do and how we want to review and preview games based on what we want to achieve.

There's no doubt about it, the ramifications for the game are huge, and if you win, you play finals, and there's no point in shying away from that. I think that's a given. It would be nice to lock it in a week before the end of the season, and what we're trying to build is something pretty special.”

SWANS SMASH AFLW HOME CROWD ATTENDANCE RECORD

The Sydney Swans have recorded its highest-ever AFLW home attendance in one season, with 33,844 supporters flocking to Swans AFLW games in 2026.

With one home match still to come, the Swans have already surpassed their total AFLW attendance record from last year by 25 per cent and lead the competition with an average home crowd of 6,769 attendees per game.

“The support we've seen for our AFLW team this season has been extraordinary, and the Club continues to set a high standard for the growth of the game in Sydney. To have already surpassed last year's total attendance by 25 per cent with another home game still to come, is a fantastic achievement,” Sydney Swans CEO Matthew Pavlich said.

SOFIA HURLEY RE-SIGNS TILL 2028

Sydney Swans co vice-captain Sofia Hurley has re-committed to the Club, signing a two year-deal until the end of 2028.

"I’m really proud to have been at the Club since the beginning, alongside the other seven remaining players who are still here,” Sofia Hurley said.

“It’s been quite a journey to get to where we are now, and I think the current list is really exciting and competitive.

“I am really enjoying playing under Colin and Tanya and I’m optimistic about what the next couple of years will look like, with the most fun hopefully to come."
