The Sydney Swans have named an extended squad for this Sunday's match against the Saints at the SCG.
Some big names look set to to return after missing the Swans 114-point victory over Richmond at the SCG last Saturday afternoon.
Skipper Callum Mills, Mal Rosas Jnr and Matt Roberts have all been included in the squad and will all need to get through Sydney's main training session on Friday to put their name up to return against the Saints.
Mills missed last week due to calf tightness sustained in Round 11 against the Cats whilst Rosas Jnr looks to return from an ankle sprain sustained in the same trip to Geelong. Roberts' last game was Round 9 against North Melbourne and he has been sidelined the last few weeks with a groin injury.
Ruckman Brodie Grundy also looks set to return after being managed last week against the Tigers while Joel Hamling has also been included in the extended squad after some solid VFL form.
Coming out of the side who defeated the Tigers is Lewis Melican (hamstring) and Tom Hanily (omitted).
Melican was removed from the match against Richmond after reporting hamstring tightness and cramping with follow up scans revealing a minor hamstring strain that will leave him sidelined for. 2 -3 weeks.
The Swans bounced back from their Round 11 loss to the Cats in emphatic fashion against Richmond last week and will return to the SCG for back-to-back home games.
The match against St Kilda marks Swans defender Sam Wicks 100th match. Wicks, a Northern Beaches local played junior footy for the Manly Bombers and joined the QBE Sydney Swans Academy in the U11s in 2010 and made his way through the pathway to be drafted as a NSW Zone Category B Rookie in 2018.
He made his debut in Round 10, 2020 at the Gabba against Collingwood in front of an empty stadium in the Covid-affected 2020 season. Wicks enjoyed a breakout 2021 season that saw him become a key part of the team. After spending much of his career in the forward line, Dean Cox moved Wicks to half-back in 2025 where he continues to thrive.
Another milestone this week will see defender Nick Blakey his 100th consecutive AFL game.
The final team to face St Kilda will be named on Friday at 5pm.
