This Friday night, we celebrate 10 years of Pride Game when Sydney take on the Western Bulldogs at the SCG.
Pride Game is a celebration of the LGBTIQA+ community and diversity with inclusion the key focus of the game - 'Everyone is Welcome at the footy'.
The Sydney Swans have participated in one form of ‘Pride Game’ since the pre-season of 2015, when the club played an exhibition match against Fremantle at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney.
In Round 21 of the 2016 season, the Swans joined forces with St Kilda to play the inaugural in-season Pride Game for premiership points at Etihad Stadium (now Marvel Stadium) and since then it has become an important highlight on our fixture.
LGBTIQA+ Pride is one of the pillars of the club's Diversity Action Plan which was first launched in 2017 and a new DAP was launched in October 2022.
The first of its kind in the AFL, the DAP is a joint initiative of Sydney’s Board, staff, players and community leaders to formalise meaningful commitments in four key areas: disability empowerment, multicultural inclusion, the advancement of women, and LGBTIQA+ pride. It is a roadmap of commitments aimed at strengthening our club and our connection to community through genuine advocacy.
Through the DAP the club work with likeminded organisations who can offer guidance to help us maximise our impact.
In 2025, Adora Fertility joined as the club’s Official Pride Partner. Adora Fertility supports all kinds of families, at a fraction of the cost and helps more people grow their families in more ways.
Adora Fertility believes in high quality, private clinic fertility care should be affordable and accessible to everyone.
The club also works with Twenty10, an organisation focused on delivering services for young LGBTIQA+ people. Twenty10 is the largest and longest-running organisation in NSW that works with young LGBTIQA+ people. The organisation provides a range of services including housing, counselling, social support groups and programs.
The club also has an official LGBTIQA+ supporter group - The Rainbow Swans who act as a core community partner helping the club guide its activations and match-day atmosphere.
The club also became the first professional sporting team to enter a float in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, a tradition the club have maintained since 2017 and since entering the AFLW competition, have also competed in the AFLW’s annual Pride Round, wearing the Pride Guernsey and hosting dedicated standalone fixtures at Henson Park.
The AFL team will wear the same Pride guernsey design as the guernsey worn in Round 21's 2025 Pride Game with the pride and progress flag directly integrated into the body of the classic home guernsey. Shop the 2026 Pride range HERE.
