Sydney Swans fan favourite Jake Lloyd this Thursday night officially earned AFL Life Membership, hitting the exclusive 300-game milestone.
Lloyd has played in 288 AFL Premiership matches with the Sydney Swans, 12 official pre-season games and one representative match for Victoria, having played in the 2020 State of Origin Bushfire relief match.
Passed over in multiple drafts, Lloyd was originally drafted from Horsham by the Sydney Swans with Pick 16 in the 2013 rookie draft, debuting in 2014, quickly becoming one of the most reliable players in the team. Over his remarkable 13 seasons in the AFL, Lloyd, who is known for his durability, averages 23.4 disposals a game.
He reached the peak of his statistical dominance during 2021, registering a career-high average of 27.9 disposals, alongside 18.4 kicks and 476 metres gained per match. Renowned for his kicking precision under pressure, Lloyd possesses a career disposal efficiency of 79% and a kicking efficiency of 75%.
The 32-year-old is a dual Bob Skilton Medallist, winning Sydney's Best and Fairest award in both 2018 and 2020. He has represented the club in four AFL Grand Finals and sits comfortably within the club's all-time historical possession-getters.
As Lloyd reached the monumental 300-game milestone against Fremantle, earning official AFL Life Membership, he serves as an excellent example of persistence for late-bloomers and rookie-listed players.
