The Sydney Swans AFLW team have made one change for Sunday's match with the Brisbane Lions at Henson Park.

Young forward Amelia Martin has been named to play her first game of the 2026 season, after she was sidelined with injury in the pre-season, while defender Jas Grierson has been omitted.

Senior coach Colin O'Riordan said he was proud of the work she had put in to return to the team and was looking forward to seeing her in action.

"Amelia's had an interrupted pre-season and then start of the year with some soft tissue injuries, but she's done a mountain of work to get back, whether it was on the track or off field, he said.

"The work and dedication she's done to her and her rehab is credit to her.

"So really looking forward to seeing what she brings in Henson Park on Sunday."

After signing contract extensions this week, talls Ally Morphett and Lexi Hamilton have been named in ruck and half back respectively.

After booting seven goals across her last two outings, Chloe Molloy has been named to start in the forward line.

Captain Lucy McEvoy will notch her 75th game on Sunday. After playing 33 games at Carlton, McEvoy landed at the Swans at the end of the 2022 season via the AFLW’s Priority Signing Period.

McEvoy was elected by her peers to lead as sole captain ahead of the upcoming season and put pen to paper on a new five-year contract at the end of July to keep her at the red and white until the end of 2031.  

O'Riordan praised McEvoy's leadership and impact on the club.

"I think Lucy epitomises everything that's good about this footy club," O'Riordan said.

"The way she goes about her footy and the way she goes about life is second to none.

"She's just a great leader on and off the field and it's going to be really nice to celebrate her 75 games of AFLW footy."
