The Sydney Swans have secured a Second-Round compensation pick (currently number 36) in the 2026 Telstra AFL Draft for Joel Amartey, who today joins Carlton.

Amartey informed the Swans he would exercise his free agency rights at the completion of the 2026 season and officially joins the Blues as an unrestricted free agent.

The Swans have obtained pick number 36 at the upcoming draft, as compensation for Amartey.

Amartey arrived at the Swans with pick 28 in the 2017 rookie draft and went on to play 76 games in the red and white and kicked 114 goals.

Sydney Swans Head of List Strategy and Player Personal, Chris Keane wished Amartey well and thanked him for his service.

“Joel is a great person who has given significant service to our football club over the past nine seasons,” Keane said.

“We wish him well at Carlton and look forward to what we can achieve in the National Draft as a result of the compensation pick.”
