Jackson Thurlow became Swans player #1419 on Saturday and claimed a quirky place in club history.

The former Geelong defender became the first player with the first name ‘Jackson’ to wear the famous red and white.

There have been 58 players named Jack and one Jacky, but never a Jackson, which was ranked the most popular male baby’s name in the United States in 2017.

Curiously, Thurlow became the seventh player on the 2019 Swans playing list in this situation.

Isaac Heeney, Jake Lloyd, Aliir Aliir, Zak Jones, Kieren Jack and Ryley Stoddart are also one-out in first names.

There has also only been one Buddy, but two players named Lance.

The collective Jack and Jacky rank second on the first name list behind only the collective William, Will, Bill and Billy at 61, and ahead of James, Jamie, Jim and Jimmy at 46.
