Sydney Swans charity partner, the GO Foundation, is thrilled to announce the launch of its first public school scholarships for Indigenous students in NSW in partnership with the Public Education Foundation (PEF).

The GO Foundation seeks to empower Indigenous youth through education. Founded by Sydney Swans legends Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin in 2009, the GO Foundation continues to expand its Indigenous Scholarship Program to address specific areas of need.

In 2018, four GO Foundation Scholarships will be offered – two GO Foundation Scholarships and, through the generosity of John B. Fairfax, two GO- JB Fairfax Scholarships. Two scholarships will be offered to a student entering year 9 in 2018 and two will be offered to a student entering year 11 in 2018. Each scholarship will support a student for two years of their schooling.

The scholarships will be in addition to the 17 scholarships currently being offered by GO at Sydney high schools and to the two university scholarships being offered at UNSW and the UniSA. The scholarships will be the entry point to a collaborative ecosystem where the GO Foundation work with corporates, schools, universities and other organisations providing support for Indigenous students.

"We are delighted to be bringing the two Foundations together to launch a new set of scholarships for Indigenous students in public high schools, expanding the considerable body of support that each organisation already delivers. With these scholarships, young men and women will be given greater access to the resources and opportunities they need to unlock their enormous potential,” Mr Hetherington said.

In relation to the new scholarships, Adam Goodes said: “The GO Foundation is thrilled to be partnering with the Public Education Foundation to put scholarships into public schools.”

“This is just the beginning of GO Foundation public school scholarships and we look forward to being able to support many more Indigenous students on their journey through school, into further education and employment,” added Michael O’Loughlin.
