Senior assistant coach Stuart Dew is confident the Swans can continue on from the strong momentum they have gathered over the last six weeks despite the mid-season break.
The Swans have now won six matches in a row and sit in second position with a 9-2 record from the first half of the season.
Dew believes the time off gave the playing group some important time to be able to ‘freshen up’ for a big run into the finals.
“I think it freshens the players up both mentally and physically,” Dew said.
“Most players get tired around this time of year so it is good to have a bit of a freshen up and then reload for the second half of the season.”
The break also allowed the playing group to be able to manage their load depending on how much footy they had played throughout the first half of the season.
“They have had a bit of time off the players so we will have another session over the weekend and it is obviously a chance for some guys to catch up,” he said.
“If they have had a limited preparation they can catch up and some of the guys have had a big work load and they will have a lighter week.
“Being a Friday night game we will have our main training session Monday and Wednesday as normal.”
Dew said it was important his side put in their best performance against Richmond to regain the momentum that could potentially be lost with a weekend without a match.
“We have put a bit of work to making sure that we don’t drop a game and that we can keep the ball rolling,” he said.
“Obviously winning is contagious so we want to try and kick start this next block on Friday night against Richmond.”
The club will be celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the 2005 premiership success at Friday night’s clash against Richmond.
