Sydney Swans’ midfielder Luke Parker has undergone surgery to mend his broken collarbone this afternoon.

The 19-year-old suffered the injury in a clash with Western Bulldogs midfielder Matthew Boyd in the third quarter of the Swans 92-point win at the SCG.

Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron said he expected Parker to miss over a month of football following today’s surgery.

“(Luke’s) had surgery this afternoon to put a pin and a plate across his collarbone,” Cameron told SwansTV.

“Unfortunately his collarbone was fractured into three pieces, so it wasn’t quite a straight crack. It was displaced so they have to go in and line it up again and get it in a position to heal.

“Once it’s showing signs of healing then he’s allowed to return.

“That should mean a 4-6 weeks period before he can return to play.”

Swans’ draft pick Jordan Lockyer has also experienced an injury setback, with the 18-year-old re-injuring his hamstring.

“He injured a hamstring earlier in the year and unfortunately re-injured it a week or so ago at training,” Cameron said.

“He played two games back from the original injury, and we don’t need to play him this weekend, so we’ll take a slightly more conservative approach and hopefully have him back training for a good couple of weeks before playing after the bye.”

Young Swan Jed Lamb also faces more time on the sideline after a shin complaint ruled him out of last weekend’s reserves match.

Cameron said Lamb will be rested again this weekend.

“Jed developed some shin pain about a week or two ago, and so he was withdrawn from playing last week,” he said.

“He won’t play this week, and then (the reserves) have a bye and then he’ll be able to return pretty soon after that.”

In positive injury news, Swans’ co-captain Adam Goodes is expected to return to training within a fortnight.

Cameron said Goodes has been running at 70-75 per cent over the last week, and is on track for his scheduled return.

“He’s up and running now and he’s been running for a week or so,” he said.

“Everything is going well, he’s working hard in the gym and he’s on a program now to return to full training in about a week-and-a-half to two weeks.

“We’re hoping things will go smoothly to there and that brings us up to after the bye.”
