The Sydney Swans are mourning the loss of Life Member and former South Australian Recruiting Manager Andrew Scholefield, who sadly passed away late last week.

Scholefield worked for the Swans for just over 24 years before retiring at the end of the 2017 season. His role was focussed on identifying and recommending talent from the SANFL and WAFL. He also assisted former Swans Recruiting Manager Ric Barham in preparing Sydney’s overall talent list for the National and Rookie Draft.

Scholefield was a very talented, passionate, loyal and hard-working servant for the Sydney Swans and will be fondly remembered for his contributions to the club, as well as playing a significant role in the recruitment of premiership stars Michael O’Loughlin, Adam Goodes, Nic Fosdike and Heath Grundy, among others.

Scholefield was well known within the SANFL community, in particular his beloved Norwood Football Club, the Redlegs.

Prior to his involvement in recruiting for the Swans, he was a well-respected History Teacher from the Nurioopta area.

Andrew leaves behind wife Athalie, children Tony, Carolyn, Damien and Michelle, and their grandchildren.

We extend our condolences to the entire Scholefield family.
