Swans midfielder Luke Parker has been cleared of any structural damaged following a knee clash sustained in Saturday’s match against Richmond.

Parker was subbed off the ground in the third term, but Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron said the 19-year-old’s injury is not serious.

“He had a clash of knees late in the game and wasn’t able to complete the game,” he told SwansTV.

“He had a scan earlier in the week and he’s been cleared of any structural damage, but he’s just got some bruising in there that he’s recovering quite well from.”

Cameron said Parker will return to training later in the week and will be assessed ahead of this weekend’s clash with Melbourne.

“He’ll need to move well at training in order to show the coaches that he’s going to be fine for the game,” he said.

“He’s not running yet and we’ll wait until the main session on Thursday.”

Fellow midfielder Dan Hannebery will also be tested this week after suffering a corked thigh on the weekend.

“Right at the end of the game he got a knock on his thigh and sustained a corked thigh,” Cameron said.

“He’s improving and like Luke he’ll be training Thursday.”

Swans utility Lewis Roberts-Thomson is likely to push for selection this week following a bruised heel injury which prevented him from playing on Saturday.

Cameron said the outlook on Roberts-Thomson’s condition is positive.

“He did actually train for part of the session last week, but did pull up sore from that and wasn’t quite right to go,” he said.

“He’s looking a lot better this week and should be training Thursday and should be right to go.”

In other injury news, Cameron said Swans ruckman Shane Mumford is showing good signs in his recovery from a back infection.

“He’s looks completely on top now of all the infection and he’s up and running this week,” he said.

“He should join team training next week and we’ll just see how he copes with that as to his exact return to play.”
