SYDNEY Swans players Leo Barry, Jared Crouch, Jude Bolton and Amon Buchanan presented a cheque for in excess of one million dollars on behalf of the Oncology Children's Foundation (OCF).

OCF, a partner in the TEAMSwans Community program, presented the donation to the Oncology Research Unit at the Children's Hospital, Westmead.

The donation brings OCF's total donations to the research unit to more than two million dollars this financial year.

Swans players were on hand to present the cheque and to visit the young patients in the Oncology ward.

"It is certainly a very exciting partnership," said Swans defender Jared Crouch.

"We do get around to a lot of different charities and hospitals.  I think if we could see kids in the hospitals and more at the schools, it would be a great achievement."

"Hopefully we can get out into the community and raise awareness and raise lots and lots of money, so we can come back with a cheque with lots more zeroes on it."

Professor Peter Gunning, Head of the Oncology Research Unit, highlighted the importance of funding cancer research, and the significance of OCF's contribution.

"Just as the Swans would not dare take the field without a game plan… it is clear that you can't have progress in our battle to cure kids with cancer without a strong research element," said Professor Gunning.

"So our game plan is to spend lots and lots of money working out exactly how kids develop cancer and to develop more effective and less toxic treatments."
