It’s always a good day when we get to talk about Warwick Capper and Adam Heuskes in the same breath.

As well as iconic hair, the former extroverted Swans from the 80’s and 90’s share a common bond having both worn the number 39 for the club - Capper with 90 games from 1983-87 and 1990, and Heuskes with 49 games from 1994-96.

Our current day number 39, Heath Grundy, is a little more subdued than the previous pair, but his impact at the club cannot be underestimated.

Speaking to SwansTV ten days out from the Guernsey Presentation and Hall of Fame Dinner, Grundy said he didn’t see too many parallels between he and the dashing duo, but was appreciative that there had been a couple of notable names wear the same number before him.

“I don’t think I mould into Warwick’s personality too closely,” he said. “But they were obviously some great players.”

“Adam Heuskes was from down in South Australia, and I remember watching him when I was younger.”

Grundy said the Guernsey Presentation Dinner, which this year incorporates inductions into the Swans Hall of Fame, was always a highlight on his calendar, as it signals the dawning of a new premiership season.

“It’s always an important time to get your jumper presented to you,” Grundy said.

“I think most of the guys look forward to the night to see a few old faces around and have a chat to everyone.

“It’s also good for the new guys in their first year to get their jumper presented to them by an (old) player or the coaches. It obviously means the footy’s getting closer too, so I always look forward to this time of the year.”
