Swans coach John Longmire said while the 297-gamer is irreplaceable; he hopes Everitt will be able to contribute for the Swans in a number of roles this weekend.

“You don’t replace (players like Jude Bolton),” Longmire said.

“You’ve just got to work other parts of the team to make sure that you cover for them and that’s what we’ve done before this year and that’s what we’ll hopefully continue to do with Jude out.

“(Everitt) had a really good second half in the reserves last week and is able to play a number of roles for us and gives us some real flexibility in the team.

“We think he can come in and do a job for us this week.”

Collingwood have also been dealt with a midfield loss this week, with 2011 Brownlow medallist Dane Swan set to miss two matches as a result of a club-imposed suspension.

Longmire said while the absence of Swan is a bonus, the club’s midfield group will not be taking the Pies lightly this weekend.

“He is a quality player, Dane Swan, but (Dayne) Beams, (Steele) Sidebottom and (Scott) Pendlebery are absolute quality players and will all step up,” he said.

“There are plenty of absolute quality mids in the Collingwood side and they all know how to step up and will get plenty of opportunities to play in the midfield (in Swan’s absence).

“They are very strong in that part of the ground and the challenge for our midfielders will be to make sure they cover their mids and play the sort of footy they want to play.”

The coach said the Swans were looking forward to Saturday night’s clash, which is set to be Sydney’s biggest home game for the season, with more than 45,000 fans expected to fill ANZ Stadium.

He added that this weekend’s match will be a test to see just how far the Swans have come in 2012.

“It’s terrific to be able to play a really powerful club like Collingwood up here in Sydney in our home city and to be able to have a really competitive hit-out against them,” he said.

“We haven’t beaten them for a while and they are a quality footy club, so we’ll see how far we’ve come on the weekend to a certain degree.

“We know we have to keep on improving regardless of what happens on the weekend anyway.”
