To celebrate Member Thank You Round, the Sydney Swans will wear their heritage strip for Sunday’s match against the Brisbane Lions in Cairns.

The Swans heritage guernsey honours past South Melbourne Football Club jumpers and features the iconic red ‘V’.

The design has a collar that was customary during the South Melbourne era, with the Club’s birthday and original logo marked inside.

Like many things in 2020, the Club’s plans to celebrate Swans Heritage Week and wear the heritage strip earlier this season, were upended by the COVID pandemic.

Swans co-captain Luke Parker says it is exciting to don the Club’s heritage guernsey during Member Thank You Round.

“This year has been challenging for many of our members, but the loyalty and support they have shown the Club is unbelievable.

“Member Thank You Round is a special round - particularly in a year like this - and our heritage strip is a very special guernsey.

“We want to thank each and every Bloods 2020 member who has stood by us this year, but we know our Victorian based fans in particular are doing it tough at the moment, so it is a fitting time to wear the heritage guernsey as an acknowledgement of our South Melbourne roots and all the loyal support we have down in Melbourne.

Following the Round 17 match against the Lions, match-worn heritage guernsey’s will be gifted to selected Victorian based Bloods 2020 members.
