Sydney Swans assistant coach Steve Johnson will depart the club after three seasons in the red and white.

Johnson joined the Swans ahead of the 2018 season, following his retirement from a playing career that spanned 293 AFL games, including three premierships.

Sydney Swans GM-Football Charlie Gardiner said Johnson departs with the club’s best wishes for the future.

“Steve has been a terrific addition to our club over three seasons, using his knowledge and experience to help guide our young forward line,” Gardiner said.

“We understand his decision to explore other opportunities and he does so with the club’s full support and endorsement.

“On behalf of the club I would like to thank Steve for his considerable contribution and wish him, Erin, Archie, Maggie and Annie all the best for the future."
