Since establishing the DAP the Swans “have achieved a lot and learned a whole lot more,” and now the club is preparing to embark on the next phase of the plan.

At the Sydney Swans we’re committed to creating a flexible and harmonious workplace, contributing to an inclusive society, and to advocating for equality. That’s why, back in 2017, we launched a Diversity Action Plan – a formal roadmap to achieving our goals. It sits alongside our Reconciliation Action Plan – which the club is also immensely proud of.

The time has come to begin work on the next phase of our DAP, and last month we began the hunt for like-minded community organisations to partner with us to help create and deliver initiatives.

There’s still time for interested organisations to submit an expression of interest, with applications open until 5pm November 20.

DAP Committee Secretary Scott Dalby said the club is seeking organisations to align with each key pillar of the plan, which include Disability Empowerment, LGBTIQ Pride, Multicultural Inclusion and the Advancement of Women.

“Since establishing the DAP we have achieved a lot and learned a whole lot more,” Dalby said.

“Our achievements include the introduction of a paid parental leave scheme, we’ve developed a guide to Aussie rules football in Mandarin, and in 2018 we became the first professional sporting club to enter a float in the Mardi Gras Parade.

“There is also plenty we are still working on, such as increasing the accessibility of our matches and developing a more flexible workplace policy, to name a few.

“But we are certainly not experts in all of the areas we are looking to impact, which is why we want to partner with like-minded organisations which can offer guidance and expertise as our football club embarks on its next chapter.”
