At the Sydney Swans we are incredibly proud of the work we have done through our Diversity Action Plan (DAP). For us the DAP is about standing up in the big moments and making meaningful commitments to change.

In 2017, we became the first AFL club to launch a DAP, which was a joint initiative from staff, players and community leaders.

The DAP’s purpose is to continue to steer our football club on a path that creates a flexible and harmonious workplace, contributes to an inclusive society, and advocates for equality.

The action plan addresses four key pillars, including:

  • Disability Empowerment
  • LGBTIQ Pride
  • Multicultural Inclusion
  • Advancement of Women

The four pillars are all underpinned by the Sydney Swans’ core value of respect.

We’re about to begin work on the next phase of our DAP and are looking for like-minded community organisations to partner with us to help create and deliver initiatives.

Our plan is much more than a set of policies. It is a commitment to a set of values which seek to empower, educate, and enhance accessibility.

We are looking to appoint four community organisations as formal DAP partners, with one aligned to each of our four key pillars. Together, we will set and strive for mutually agreed goals that are meaningful and will make a practical contribution in advancing our DAP objectives.

Keen to get involved?

Interested community organisations are being invited to submit an expression of interest. This should include:

  • An overview of your organisation’s values and core purpose.
  • Examples of your success in delivering practical outcomes for the DAP pillar your organisation is applying for.
  • How a partnership with the Sydney Swans could assist your organisation in achieving its targets or goals.

Applications should be sent to hr@sydneyswans.com.au  by 5pm November 20, 2020.
