The Sydney Swans are saddened to learn of the recent passing of former player Alfred Callick, who died peacefully at the age of 95.

He was believed to be our oldest living player.

Callick played 57 games for South Melbourne between 1943-1950.

He made his debut in South’s win over Footscray in Round 16, 1943 at Princes Park, before missing the next three seasons due to war service.

A trusted ruckman and defender, he kicked nine goals in a career spanning six seasons.

On the all-time player list Callick was the 619th to pull on the red and white jumper.

The club extends its sincere condolences to Alf’s family and friends, especially his children Anne, Janet and Jo.
