The QBE Sydney Swans Academy NAB League girls team have had a memorable victory on the road on Saturday afternoon, defeating the previously undefeated Geelong Falcons by 13 points in Geelong.
Post game Head of the Sydney Swans Academy Chris Smith said he was proud of the efforts of the Swans side, especially considering the strong opposition and challenging playing conditions.
"Our defence held strong throughout the first quarter, restricting the undefeated Falcons to just one goal despite the strong breeze in their favour," Smith said.
"During the second quarter, the team displayed tireless physicality and applied quality pressure on the opposition, who managed only one goal from numerous forward entries.
"The players held their nerve in the final term, running the game out strongly and achieving a remarkable victory against a quality opposition playing on their home ground. Well done to the players and coaches."
