The Sydney Swans face another challenge this week as they take on a high-flying Melbourne outfit at the MCG tomorrow night.

The Demons have found form in 2021 to sit top of the ladder after seven rounds but Swans midfielder Callum Mills is confident Sydney can deliver a victory in what will be the QBE Sydney Swans Academy product's 100th game.

“They’ve been great, they’re on top of a lot of key stats and so they should be, they’re number one on the ladder, Mill said.

"We’re really looking forward to it, they’ve got a lot of dangerous players that we’re keen to nullify and hopefully put our imprint on the game."

Mills has backed his side to continue the form that saw them edge Geelong by 2-points in a gutsy Round 7 display at the SCG, but believes losses to the Suns and Giants provided crucial lessons for the young side.

“I think we obviously want to iron out the inconsistencies, I think every team goes through it, Mills said.

"You look at the last 10 years and it happens to every good side. The main thing we’re really trying to drive is consistency, so whether it is through a lack of experience or you just have your down days, we’re just trying to iron that out and get the best out of ourselves. “

Sydney could be boosted by the inclusion of star forward Lance Franklin, who remains a strong chance to return from injury.

“He’s travelled down with us and hopefully John picks him," Mills said.

"Whenever he plays he’s just got a big presence. In the big games he always turns up and plays well and Saturday night is no different.

"It’s a big clash, we’re really looking forward to it, and hopefully he’s out there with us. You run taller when he’s out there.”

Young forward Hayden McLean has had a big impact in the forward line in Franklin’s absence, kicking four goals last week against Geelong, meanwhile Tom Papley also delivered plenty in the crucial moments.

“Everyone’s part of our forward line and the synergy that they’ve created this first seven weeks has been pretty impressive.” Mills said.

Saturday's match will be second time to Swans play in Melbourne at the MCG for season 2021 and Mills expects there to be a strong showing of red and white in the crowd.

“We love the SCG but coming down to Melbourne is great. We’ve got a lot of great south Melbourne supporters down here.”

The Sydney Swans face the Melbourne Demons at the SCG on Saturday May 8 from 7:25pm.
