It was a day to remember for Auskickers at the SCG on Tuesday as kids from across NSW/ACT celebrated Lance Franklin's historic 1000 goals milestone.

Each of the children, aged between 5 and 12 years old, received a free NAB AFL Auskick registration and an invitation to meet the Swans star forward.

"It's pretty special to have the kids here today, it means a lot to me, and shows how Auskick is thriving in NSW and all over Australia. My main message to kids out there wanting to play footy is to just have fun, you can meet some new friends and enjoy your time being active," said Franklin.

After having their picture taken with Buddy, kids had the chance to meet the rest of the team, with players signing autographs and posing for photos.

The number of kids participating in Auskick has risen 10 per cent on last year across the NSW and ACT regions.

The program is the perfect introduction for kids of all abilities and skill levels, offering the opportunity to not only play footy, but also connect with friends and learn valuable social and physical skills to build confidence.
