Senior Coach John Longmire has named his side ahead of Thursday night's game against St Kilda at the SCG, with two changes to the Swans lineup.

The Swans will welcome the return of experienced defender and Swans skipper Dane Rampe after sustaining a neck injury early in the season.

Speaking to Sydney Swans Media, Longmire said Rampe's presence will be important not only for the backline, but as a figurehead with both Luke Parker and Callum Mills out.

"We'll have a younger midfield and Dane being back in the team is important because of what he provides us in a one-on-one sense and in a leadership sense," Longmire explained.

Youngster Angus Sheldrick receives a start this week and will be looking to build his craft in just his fourth career game.

"Gus is a younger player who's still learning the ropes and gets an opportunity this week which is really terrific."

The Swans will face fifth placed St Kilda at home at the SCG off the back of two wins before the mid-season bye and the task at hand is not lost on Sydney. Longmire praised Saints coach Ross Lyon and the team's system which will provide a challenge for the Swans.

"Their ability to stop teams from scoring is elite and they play both sides of the ball. It's a real challenge for us so we’re looking forward to it.”
