WE’VE learnt a lot about hard work since we had a bad day down in Canberra last weekend.
Most of the boys in the reserves played pretty bad. We had plenty of the ball but they got goals from our mistakes and some of our efforts were pretty poor.
Everyone needs to hit the training track this week and train real hard to get some confidence back, and also to start caring for each other.
So it started on Tuesday when the Stueys - Stuart Maxfield and Stuart Dew - put us through a tough session downstairs. There were push-ups - hundreds of them! - and boxing till our arms hurt, but we needed it, and we got through it.
It all helps to make you stronger.
We’d looked at the footage from our game against Ainslie, which we lost by a long way, and it showed we weren’t caring enough for each other and going hard enough.
But on a positive note I got four tackles which was good for me.
And my new yellow boots were amazing, they were so light!
Seriously though, the coaches have been telling me it’s all about effort and enjoying playing footy on the day.
That’s the way I see it, just play footy and if you’re not having fun, what is the use of playing.
When I was back in Perth if we had a bad loss or I had a bad game I’d train extra hard and then muck around with the footy after that with my brothers and cousins, just do all the little things to get me back up again.
The next week I’d usually play ok and hopefully I’ll do the same this week, after I train my hardest and try to stay positive.
