Sydney Swans speedster Zak Jones has expressed a desire to join St Kilda during the Telstra AFL Trade Period.

Jones, who is out of contract, has played 90 games in the red and white since making his debut in 2014.

CEO Tom Harley told Telstra Trade Radio the Club would now work with St Kilda to broker a deal for the 24-year-old.

“Zak is out of contract, he has been transparent, we have had an offer in front of Zak for a long time,” Harley told Telstra Trade Radio.

“Everyone knows within footy circles he comes from a really strong and tight family and his desire to return to Victoria is to be closer to his family.

“St Kilda is the club that has expressed interest and Zak has let us know that, he has been really transparent about that.”

“There is still a trade needs to happen and we will make sure it works for the club if that is the case and that is how it pans out.”

Harley said Jones’ request to return to Victoria came as no surprise to the Club.

“You are always disappointed when a player expresses a desire to leave your club but we need to look at the set of circumstances,” he said.

“We actually had some challenges in re-signing him last time so this wasn’t totally unexpected.”

“I would expect those conversations to play out in the next couple of days.”

The Telstra AFL Trade Period will run until 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 16.
