Coburg proved too strong for the Sydney Swans on Saturday afternoon, claiming a 32-point win. But the talking point of the game was a goal from the backline that has been labelled the "longest goal ever".

The Swans started strongly and kept up with the Lions for the majority of the match, before the home team kicked away in the final term to win 11.23 (89) to 8.9 (57).

Tall Will Green opened the scoring, taking a nice contested mark and kicking truly midway through the first quarter, before Jack Buller followed suit shortly after.

Jordan Endemann kicked an exceptional major to get the Swans out to an early lead. His kick launched from the backline and bounced through for an extraordinary goal that one fan has estimated may have travelled as far as 109 metres.

Willem Smit got his name on the scoresheet with a crafty crumb and goal, however, Coburg responded with two majors of their own.

The red and white took advantage of the breeze, taking a 10-point lead into the first change.

The Lions took control in the second term, kicking two goals early, before Buller settled the Swans with his second major for the afternoon.

Sydney was unable to regain the lead, with Coburg kicking back-to-back goals to head into the main break with a 10-point advantage.

Defender Ben Paton finished the first half as the team's leading possession winner with 21 disposals, and Buller led the Swans' scoring with two majors.

2024 draftee Jesse Dattoli took the field in the second half, the 18-year-old returning from a stress fracture in his back, which had kept him on the sidelines since December.

The third quarter set up an exciting final term, with two goals apiece giving Coberg a 13-point lead into the final change.

After a solid three-quarters, the Swans were unable to withstand a final quarter flurry of goals from Coburg, the home side kicking three to the Swans' singular major to run out 32-point winners.

Playing modified minutes, Jesse Dattoli showed plenty, finishing with 11 disposals, three clearances and two tackles.

Best for the Swans were Ben Paton, who had 36 disposals and six tackles, alongside VFL-listed Ben Edwards with 34 disposals and eight clearances. Caleb Mitchell was solid with 28 disposals and eight marks, while Willem Smit and Jack Buller finished with two goals each.

Next up, the Swans VFL side will face the Casey Demons at Tramway Oval on Saturday, May 31 at 1:35pm, ahead of Sydney's Round 12 game against the Crows at the SCG.
