The Sydney Swans have made one change ahead of the AFLW Sydney Derby at Henson Park on Sunday afternoon.

Senior coach Scott Gowans has named Ruby Sargent-Wilson to play her first game of the 2025 season.

"We're excited to see Ruby play a mixture of back and wing, she just brings that run, carry and aggression at the ball, which we love," Gowans said.

"She's waited patiently, and her opportunities come so I suppose it's now on the players that do come in for the rest of the year now, they've just got to take those opportunities."

Sargeant-Wilson joins Ash Van Loon, Lexi Hamilton, Amelia Martin and Paris McCarthy on the bench, while Sarah Steele-Park, Rebecca Privitelli and Caitlin Reid move from the extended bench to the emergency list.

Utility Julie O'Sullivan comes out of the side after it was confirmed on Wednesday that she would miss the remainder of the season with an ACL injury.

Sydney will be looking to make it three derby wins in a row on Sunday, after coming out on top by five points in 2023 and three points in 2024.

The Swans will also be keen to redeem themselves after a poor showing last weekend, falling to Collingwood by 26 points at Victoria Park.

Gowans said he was expecting a response from his side on Sunday.

"Collingwood played very good footy and really took the game to, and I suppose we've just got to get the game back on our terms this week," Gowans said.

"And that's an exciting thing because you would think that it's going to be pretty fast and free flowing.

"So yeah, expecting a response and see how we go."

Sydney takes on GWS at Henson Park this Sunday afternoon, with the first bounce at 1.05pm.

By turning up you'll be changing her game. To increase the length of the AFLW season to 14 games, we need to grow our crowds to 6,000 attendees per match. Bigger crowds mean more footy, and who doesn't want that?
