Sydney Swans defender Sarah Steele-Park will make her AFLW debut when Sydney faces Adelaide at Unley Oval on Sunday.
The 29-year-old was drafted to the Harbour City with pick 61 in the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft, after she impressed as a train-on player.
The team's runner last season, the mature-aged recruit worked hard to earn her opportunity at AFLW level.
The tall defender grew up in Orange and brings plenty of experience from playing in various leagues across the country.
She will be returning to familiar territory for Sunday's match, as last year, the secondary school teacher travelled 1,300km each weekend from Central Australia to play for North Adelaide in the SANFL in the hope of getting on an AFLW list.
Steele-Park had a dominant season with the Roosters, with her strength and one-on-one ability being the standouts of her game.
Steele-Park's sacrifices will be made worthwhile when she pulls on the red and white for the first time on Sunday.
Speaking to Sydney Swans Media, senior coach Scott Gowans said Steele-Park was deserving of an opportunity.
"She's just one of those people that just does what you ask and team structure is really big for us and she'll come in and just play the way we want her to play," Gowans said.
"She's got an energy about her, she's also a mature head as well and played a lot of footy, but just no W footy yet, but yeah, she's very strong, beats her opponent one-on-one and that's what we want."
Sydney will name its final team at 5pm on Friday.
The Swans take on the Crows at 3.05pm (local) on Sunday, at Unley Oval.
