Senior coach Scott Gowans has named his side to take on North Melbourne at UTAS Stadium on Saturday. In exciting news, Ally Morphett and Sofia Hurley will return to play after a calf and quad injury respectively.

The former All-Australian ruck was sidelined last week after sustaining a minor calf injury during training, while reigning Club Champion Hurley was sidelined in Round 4 with foot soreness before a setback with a quad strain in Round 7.

Speaking to Sydney Swans Media, Gowans was pleased to see them rejoin the team.

"Morph obviously brings a little bit in the ruck, hits to advantage are going to be important against North and if we can get first used out of the ruck, that'll be really important," he shared.

"And then Sofia, well she's just a reigning best and fairest so it's great to have her back post clearance and her pressure she brings to the team is going to be really important. They're both fit and ready to go."

Sarah Steele-Park has also been named in the team after making her AFLW debut against the Adelaide Crows last week. Gowans noted she executed her role and at 29, brought maturity to the young side.

"Her determination to play her role, that was the main thing that we wanted from her. And then she gave us a little bit of offence, which was sort of the cherry on top I think," he said.

"Her voice was strong, she tackled well, pressured well and then she just brings that maturity in the back line to stabilise things when the heat's on."

The Swans currently sit sixth on the ladder with four wins and three consecutive losses. Gowans says going up against the undefeated Kangaroos will be a great test.

"When you play North Melbourne is there's no expectation. So we just go in there and we just play our way and last year we were able to physically stay with them for a half.

"So we'll do that again and see where it gets us and then try and reassess and then go our way. It's all about trying to play our style and our game against the best in the business."

The Swans with play North Melbourne from 3:05pm on Saturday, October 4 from UTAS Stadium. Can't make it to the game? Tune in on Channel 7, Kayo, Fox Footy or Binge.
