Venue specialist Meg Rogers has been named the second Dean Moore Award nominee for 2025.

The news as announced in an all-staff meeting in September, recognising Rogers for her dedication and service in running Sydney Swans HQ. Speaking to Sydney Swans Media, Rogers admitted she wasn’t expecting the honour.

“I feel super grateful, I really didn’t expect it,” she shared.

“As a lot of people say, this place has so many amazing people.”

Rogers joined the Sydney Swans as Facilities Coordinator in May 2023 before evolving into Venue Specialist in May 2024.

Hailing from Perth, Rogers grew up barracking for the West Coast Eagles and Collingwood. After working in local and state government Rogers explained that a role in AFL was “a dream”.

“When I moved to Sydney, I was ready for change. It was a dream, but I didn’t really know how to make that a reality,” she admitted.

“You don’t really think about the commercial side [of AFL] when you’re a fan.”

Rogers was attending a Sydney Swans game at the SCG when she noticed the club advertising a role with the commercial operations department. It was an opportunity made possible by the opening of the Sellers & Colles Centre – also known as Sydney Swans HQ - in early 2024.

“The role has changed quite a bit, and I feel like I’ve progressed a lot in the role which has been really cool,” Rogers noted.

Since beginning her new role, Rogers supports the commercial hire of the building and Sydney Swans Institute.

“Every day is different, and we have a lot of different people in every day.

“The people we get to meet and the exposure to different businesses and companies is amazing.”

To be presented annually at the Sydney Swans’ AFLW Club Champion Dinner, the Dean Moore Award is a peer nominated award that will recognise a Sydney Swans staff member who has best embodied the club’s values of respect, discipline, courage, and conviction. Harry Hoysted was nominated for the award in Q1.
