Sydney Swans AFLW defensive duo Lara Hausegger and Ash Van Loon have recommitted to the red and white, inking one-year contract extensions.
The new deals will see the pair remain in the Harbour City until at least the end of 2027.
Hausegger was drafted to Sydney with pick 33 in the 2023 AFLW draft and made her debut in Round 2, 2024. After featuring in six games in her first year, the 20-year-old continued to showcase her defensive prowess, featuring in every game last season.
Van Loon, 21, arrived at Sydney from Essendon during the 2024 AFLW Trade Period, having played 26 games in three seasons. She slotted seamlessly into Sydney’s backline, playing 10 games in her first campaign as a Swan.
Sydney Swans Executive General Manager – AFLW Football, Kate Mahony, said Hausegger and Van Loon were an important part of the club’s future.
“We’re thrilled to have re-signed both Lara and Ash, who are two very talented, up-and-coming defenders,” Mahony said.
“We were really pleased with the roles they were able to play for us last season, so we’re really excited by their potential and look forward to seeing them continue to develop in the coming years.”
