For Michael O'Loughlin, leadership and business has always been about something bigger than himself.

An accomplished AFL player with a career spanning 20 years, O'Loughlin made a successful transition into business, as Co-Founder of the GO Foundation and MD ARA Indigenous Services. A big part of what drives O'Loughlin is creating opportunity through Indigenous business and leading with responsibility.

The Sydney Swans premiership player will share his on-field learnings and business expertise at the Sydney Swans Institute Gather Round Leadership Summit in Adelaide on the 9th of April.

"It's not just about sport, it's about everything that encompasses, being successful at whatever you choose to be doing," O'Loughlin said.

"Talking about the things that make me tick and the things that make me do the things I do - culture plays a huge part in that.

"I've learned so many lessons over that journey to be what it takes to become successful on field as well as a business owner and a lot of the philosophies are very similar."

O'Loughlin, who hails from South Australia, said Gather Round is always a highlight on his calendar, and this year he's looking forward to speaking at the Gather Round Summit alongside some big names including John Longmire and Adam Goodes.

"I think the summit a great opportunity for like-minded people to get together in a room and listen to an incredible person and leader in John as well as the other speakers including Adam," O'Loughlin said.

"I'll be speaking on multiple topics around, culture, club culture and getting the best out of people," O'Loughlin said.

"As a business owner, these same sort of philosophies are really similar around having, a really incredible workspace with great people that work with and for you, but also how to get the best out of them.

"I've had some pretty incredible coaches in Ron Barassi, Rodney Eade, Paul Roos, and other leaders and coaches in that space as well."

South Australian businesses and those travelling for the weekend can experience the Institute’s high-performance leadership approach through a curated event held on Thursday, April 9.
