VFL Team: Cootee to debut in red and white

The Sydney Swans side to face Port Melbourne at ETU Stadium on Saturday, April 4 in Round Three of the VFL Premiership has been named by VFL head coach Nick Malceski.

New recruit Billy Cootee will return from a hip injury suffered in pre-season, playing in his first appearance in red and white since joining the club.

He returns alongside senior listed players Ned Bowman (returning from injury) and Caiden Cleary who returns following a game in the senior side.

VFL listed players Julian Callegari, Mitch Mellis, Tom Ryan, Jack Ellwood and Harrison Podmore-Taylor are new faces in this weeks line up, replacing Kaden Harbour, Ned Chamberlain, Jedd Longmire, Max Geddes, Peter Ladhams, Taylor Adams, Harry Cunningham and Harry Cameron who all featured in the season opener.

The Swans suffered a 36-point defeat in their season opener, before a bye last week while Port Melbourne currently sit in ninth with one win to start their season.

All Smithy’s VFL and VFLW matches will be streamed live and free on AFL platforms via AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App.
