The return of Taylor Adams headlines the Swans Round 12 VFL match against Southport on the Gold Coast on Saturday morning.

Adams has had a run of injuries which has hampered his 2026 season to date.

The 31-year old suffered a partial tear of his achilles in the preseason in December 2025 before playing in the VFL Round 1 and was one of the Swans best with 27 disposals and a goal against Box Hill.

However a hamstring injury sustained in April has kept him sidelined the last few months but the experienced midfielder will return as the Swans face last year's grand finalists this weekend.

Some big names and key performers come out of the Swans side to face the Sharks with Joel Hamling and Harry Cunningham selected in the senior team to face Port Adelaide while Corey Warner has also been named as an emergency for the AFL side.

Tom Hanily (concussion) also comes out of the team as does Max Geddes (omitted) and Harrison Podmore-Taylor (omitted).

After a strong start to the season, the last few weeks have been a challenge for the Swans with several consistent AFL listed players elevated to the seniors.

While still holding down eighth position on the ladder, Sydney have suffered three losses in a row, including a narrow 3-point loss to St Kilda last week.

Both the Swans (8th) and Sharks (11th) have had five wins for the season and sit on 20 points with percentage the only thing separating them on a very close VFL ladder, both teams just one win outside the top four.
