SYDNEY DERBY XXXIII
The Sydney Swans will compete in the 33rd instalment of the Sydney Derby this Saturday against the Giants. Both sides will enter the second derby of the year on the back of defeats with the Swans going down at the hands of the Adelaide Crows whilst the GIANTS suffered a shock three-point loss down in Essendon last weekend.
The Swans will be hoping that the Round 20 fixture is a repeat of Round 6 where the Swans emerged victories over the GIANTS by 41 points with Nick Blakey claiming his first Kirk-Ward Medal after an impressive showing with 34 disposals and a goal.
"I think it's amazing. It's unbelievable for footy in New South Wales… We both love playing in these games, they're big games, they make it exciting and they're always packed houses,” Sydney Swans captain Callum Mills said.
2026 AFLW TICKETS ON SALE NOW
Tickets are now on sale for the 2026 AFLW season.
With just under a month until the season starts there’s plenty to look forward to, including an upcoming double header between the AFLW and AFL sides.

COOTEE KICKS 5 IN 16-PT VFL VICTORY
In wet conditions at Tramway Oval, Billy Cootee produced arguably his best performance in the VFL thus far with 5 goals, 18 disposals, and 13 tackles against the Lions.
He was helped by other starring displays from Harry Kyle (30 disposals), Tom Hanily (22 disposals, seven tackles), and Jesse Dattoli (22 disposals, three goals, six tackles).
Just three games remain in the VFL season, with the Swans sitting third on the competition ladder, and will set their sights on a blockbuster Derby against GWS next Saturday afternoon.
WARNER EARNS MARK OF THE YEAR NOMINATION
Sydney Swans midfielder Chad Warner has earned a Mark of the Year nomination following his spectacular speccy in Round 19.
In a first-quarter highlight, Chad Warner launched for a Virgin AFL Mark of the Year contender on the half-back flank. Warner reached new heights as he ran and flew to pluck the ball over Luke Nankervis.
The mark caught the attention of the league, and now Chad goes into the running to win the major prize of $5,000 cash thanks to Virgin Australia. The major prize will be announced at the end of the 2026 Toyota AFL home and away season.
INJURY UPDATE
Lewis Melican is set to be tested in the hope of a possible return this week after managing a low-grade adductor strain.
Harry Cunningham has entered the AFL concussion protocol after sustaining a concussion during the match against Adelaide.
Meanwhile, multiple Swans players continue to work back towards full fitness before the end of the home and away season.
