Jas Grierson will mark her 75th AFLW game this Sunday against Port Adelaide. The 28-year-old defender has featured in every season in the history of the AFLW and has become an integral part of the Swans' defensive unit. 

“Playing 75 games, it's felt like a long time coming. It's my 11th season, and there have been times where I wasn't sure if I'd even get there. So, I'm feeling super proud to be playing the 75th,” Grierson said 

Grierson began her career at Melbourne after they drafted her in the first-ever AFLW draft in 2016. Grierson made her debut in 2017 against the Brisbane Lions and kicked her first goal in the same game. A memory Grierson still remembers fondly.

A special milestone for Jas Grierson who will play her 75th AFLW game this Saturday afternoon in Adelaide.

“There's been a fair few highlights, but I think even playing my first game. That was pretty unreal down at Casey Fields,” Grierson said. 

“It was a thunderstorm. I had kicked the first goal and was even actually being able to celebrate with friends and family down there.” 

After featuring for the Demons 13 times across two seasons, Grierson was traded to North Melbourne, where she played three seasons before a stint with the Giants from 2022 to 2024, before signing on with the Swans as a delisted free agent ahead of the 2025 season.  

“I feel super lucky that I've ended up at the Swans,” Grierson said. 

“I think the investment in the AFLW program is unmatched and the amount of resources that are put into it, and it truly feels like one club, and that is down from the execs and Pav and Tom Harley. 

“It's a really special place, and I love spending time here as well. So you'll always find me at the coffee machine having chats with everyone. It's just a really special place.” 

Since donning the red and white, Grierson has put up career-high numbers including appearances, disposals and tackles. A calf injury delayed Grierson’s start to the season, but after featuring in last weekend's Sydney Derby win, Grierson is ready to press on with the remainder of the 2026 season and everything that it has in store. 

“If I could talk to my younger self, I think I'd say just keep on enjoying it,” Grierson said 

“You can get wrapped up in the actual pressures and the wins and the losses and injuries, but the reason I'm here and still playing is that I love all my teammates and all the clubs I've been at.”
