Sydney Swans co vice-captain Sofia Hurley has re-committed to the Club, signing a two year-deal until the end of 2028.
Hurley arrived at Sydney with the Club’s second selection (pick five overall) in the 2022 AFLW Draft ahead of the Swans’ inaugural season.
She has gone on to play 43 games in the red and white and was named Sydney’s Club Champion and Rising Star after a career-best year in 2024.
The midfielder was named co vice-captain alongside Cynthia Hamilton ahead of the 2026 season, where she featured in five games averaging 22 disposals and eight tackles before injuring her ankle in the Sydney Derby.
Hurley said she was excited to extend her time at the Swans and continue building on the foundations laid during the Club’s first five AFLW seasons.
"I’m really proud to have been at the Club since the beginning, alongside the other seven remaining players who are still here,” Hurley said.
“It’s been quite a journey to get to where we are now, and I think the current list is really exciting and competitive.
“I am really enjoying playing under Colin and Tanya and I’m optimistic about what the next couple of years will look like, with the most fun hopefully to come."
Sydney Swans Acting Executive General Manager- AFLW Football, Amanda Turner said locking in the vice-captain was a significant signing.
“Sof is one of the competition's best young midfielders and is an outstanding leader in our football program and club,” Turner said.
"Her professionalism, competitiveness and care for her teammates make her an incredibly valuable person both on and off the field.
"We know how determined she is to return from injury and we're delighted she'll continue her journey with our club for at least the next two seasons."
