JUDE Bolton's 300th game celebrations might have to be put on hold, but the veteran midfielder is hopeful he will only miss two or three weeks following scans on his injured knee.
Bolton hyperextended his left knee in the third quarter of the Swans' victory over Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Sunday and was soon substituted out of the match.
Swans coach John Longmire said after the game he wasn't sure the extent of the injury, with some speculating he may have damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.
But the 32-year-old turned to Twitter this morning to reveal he had received some encouraging news from the scan.
"Good result with the scan - thanks for all the messages of support!"he tweeted.
"Should only miss 2-3 weeks. Will help cheer the boys on vs Coll!"
Bolton's appearance against the Blues was his 297th for the Swans, with his 300th set to fall in the club's round 22 match against Hawthorn at the SCG.
The club had plans in place to honour Bolton at his home ground for achieving a feat achieved by just two other players in South Melbourne/Sydney Swans history - Adam Goodes and Michael O'Loughlin.
If he misses two or three games, the milestone would likely fall during the finals for the Swans, who are currently sitting first on the AFL ladder.
While the injury is a disappointing setback, the prospect of two or three weeks out is obviously far better than if he required a full reconstruction.
Bolton is having one of the best seasons of his career, but is off contract at the end of this year.
Longmire has a press conference scheduled for later on Monday, when he is likely to reveal the full extent of the scans.
