Sydney Swans forward Isaac Heeney will join representatives from the other 17 AFL Clubs and take part in the Fight MND Big Freeze event next week.

The annual, and iconic, Big Freeze extravaganza is back for a sixth year, but it will look a little different in 2020.

All AFL clubs have once again answered Neale Daniher's call and will be at the forefront on the event, making a ‘splash’ and raising vital awareness and funds in the fight against MND.

Due to the restrictions imposed as a result of COVID-19, and the forced hiatus of the AFL season, the Queen’s Birthday event will not be staged at the MCG  in 2020, and while the ‘slide’ won’t happen, the Big Freeze still will.

On June 8, the Queen’s Birthday holiday, Channel 7 will air a special 1-hour presentation around Australia featuring current players from all AFL clubs performing their own ‘ice challenge’ to support the cause.

Heeney, who has some big shoes to fill after coach John Longmire’s efforts in 2019,  said he was honoured to be part of the event.

“I’ve got a good costume lined up, so I am looking forward to being part of it, especially for such a great cause,” Heeney said.

Fans can get involved in raising funds for Fight MND by purchasing a beanie, which are on sale in store at Coles and Bunnings nationwide and are also available online at shop.coles.com.au & bunnings.com.au.
