The atmosphere and feeling generated from the 30,000 fans on Saturday night was electric. Equivalent to 50,000 at the MCG!
Furthermore, of the 30,000 fans it feels as though 28,000 of them are Swans supporters, making for one hell of a home ground advantage.
The contrast between the reaction after a Swans goal, compared to a Brisbane goal was amazing - even to the extent of having to second guess myself after a Brisbane goal simply because it was so quiet.
There could be no greater contrast of course than after the three quarter time siren when Braddy slotted his 60m torpedo through from near the boundary.
The fairytale in itself resulted in a deafening roar from both the 30,000 supporters, and the 22 of us players. I can’t imagine a person (apart from the odd Brisbane supporter) who was not out of their seat.
It’s one of those moments that will be remembered by everyone involved, and everyone who was there on Saturday night.
It brings me back to the power that the SCG can generate from so many spectators. It is a real weapon for the side to inspire us and will us to victory.
And speaking to friends and family, it was a real experience for the supporters. So I guess for those who didn’t make it, I’d encourage you to get along next time we play at the SCG, against Fremantle on Saturday May 22.
And for the supporters who did make it, thank-you and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
