The Swans are confident midfielders Dan Hannebery and Jake Lloyd will be available for Saturday night’s clash with Geelong.

Both on-ballers suffered ankle injuries in last weekend’s 38-point win against Melbourne, but were fit enough to run out the match with coach John Longmire commending Lloyd’s effort in particularly during the post-match press conference.

Hannebery and Lloyd trained away from the main group on Tuesday but are expected to suit up for the squad’s final training session on Thursday in a bid to prove themselves fit.

“Jake will be touch and go,” General Manager of Football Tom Harley told SwansTV for this week’s HCF Injury Update.

“But given the way he got through the game, it probably bodes well for his chances this week and the same with Dan.

“It’s too early to (give a definitive answer), we’ve got our docs, medicos and fitness staff working around the clock to get the boys up but as I say, the fact they were able to play the game out is typically a good sign their chances are good.”

A further injury concern stemming from Saturday night was Isaac Heeney’s ruptured posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) to his knee.

Heeney underwent scans on Monday and was given 4-6 weeks on the sidelines.

“The good thing is for Isaac plenty of players have had that same injury in the past,” Harley said.

“I know Adam Goodes had it early in his career and is still running around so from that sense that’s a positive one for Isaac, but he’ll be out for a little while.”

In other injury news, rookie Lloyd Perris suffered a further setback on his road to recovery from a knee reconstruction.

Perris, who was due to play competitive football in a fortnight, aggravated his knee again during a training session before last weekend’s NEAFL hit out against the Giants.

The 20-year-old went in for arthroscopic surgery which has added another “couple of weeks” on to his journey back to full fitness.

And in more encouraging signs, key defenders Aliir Aliir and Lewis Melican made a success return to the NEAFL side and will look to increase their match fitness over the coming weeks.
