Sydney Swans key defender Tom McCartin has polled five votes for the AFL Coaches Association’s AFL Champion Player Award following the Swans victory over the Adelaide Crows at the SCG.

Playing in his 50th AFL match, 20-year old McCartin finished with 18 disposals and two tackles and polled the most votes out of any Swans player from the coaches.

Adelaide’s Taylor Walker polled 8 votes with Braeden Campbell (5), Jordan Dawson (4), Errol Gulden (2), Chad Warner (2) and Isaac Heeney (1) also polling votes.

The Carey-Bunton Medal recognises the best NSW-bred player in the AFL, with the medal will be awarded to the NSW player who records the most votes in the AFL Coaches Association’s Champion Player of the Year Award.

Braeden Campbell polled five votes following his performance that earned a NAB AFL Rising Star Nomination after Sydney’s 33-point win over Adelaide on Saturday. The rebounding defender finished with 25 disposals, 21 of them kicks, took six marks, laid two tackles and had 700+ metres gained which was in the top handful of AFL players across the weekend.
