The Sydney Swans are proud to announce the club has extended its partnership with GambleAware and the Reclaim the Game initiative, reaffirming the club’s commitment to tackle the normalisation of sports betting.

The Swans were the first AFL club to partner with Reclaim the Game, with the extension aiming to raise awareness around the risks associated with gambling.

Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley said the club is excited to continue working with GambleAware, which is extending its partnership to Sydney’s women’s team.

“As a football club we believe it is extremely important to provide education to staff, players and fans about the risks associated with gambling. We’re thrilled to be extending our partnership with GambleAware to continue our important work in this area,” Harley said.

“This partnership supports our ambition to provide a more family-friendly sporting experience at our home matches for both our men’s and women’s teams.”

As part of the agreement the Swans will continue to disallow sports betting advertising or sponsorship at home games.

Minister for Hospitality and Racing, Kevin Anderson said he was delighted the Sydney Swans had pledged to renew their partnership with the NSW Government’s GambleAware Reclaim the Game initiative, to turn down sports betting sponsorship and raise awareness of gambling harm.

“The Swans have already partnered with us for two seasons, and we are excited to extend the partnership for two more years,” Mr Anderson said.

The club will also commit to promoting advertisements highlighting the pitfalls of sports betting along with educating fans, players and staff about the risks associated with gambling.

The Sydney Swans fanbase has shown immense support for the partnership since its inception, with seven out of 10 Swans fans believing gambling should not be a part of experiencing sport, and nine out of 10 Swans fans agreeing that there is too much gambling advertising.
