Last time they met
The Sydney Swans came into their round 11 clash with West Coast looking to add to their three game winning streak. The match didn’t start off too smoothly for the Swans as they trailed by three goals with just five minutes played in the first quarter. It got worse, with the team facing a 33-point deficit at quarter-time and a 36-point margin at the main break.

The Swans improved their slow start in the second half of the game as Adam Goodes, Nick Malceski and Jarrad McVeigh found plenty of the ball to supply the forwards with the delivery they needed. The margin was cut to 16 points at the end of the penultimate quarter. Two late goals from Buchanan and Malceski in the fourth quarter saw the Swans down by one point with not long left in the contest.Jude Bolton’s fierce attack on the footy was rewarded when he was given a free kick for a high contact from Eagles defender Adam Hunter. Bolton delivered the goal to give the Swans a hard-fought come-from-behind five point victory over West Coast.

Brownlow Medal Votes: 3 – Adam Goodes (Syd), 2 – Darren Glass (West), 1 – Brett Kirk (Syd)
